DCV Survey Inspections

AMSA DCV Statutory Surveys

Principal Surveyor Guy Howard is AMSA-accredited for inspections and compliance for Domestic Commercial Vessels (DCVs).
Ensure your vessel remains safe, compliant, and continues to meet the applicable standards of the NSCV.


  • Initial Vessel Survey: Verification of vessel design, construction, and operational systems. (new build or variations) 
  • Periodic Survey: Inspections to confirm continued compliance and operational safety.
  • Renewal Survey: Inspection conducted at the end of each cycle to renew your certificate of survey.
  • Interim Survey: Conducted between full surveys to verify repairs or alterations. 
  • Supplementary Inspection: Inspection of specific systems, components, or rectifications as directed by AMSA.
  • Change of Survey Type or Class Inspection: Verification when altering vessel service category or operational area. 
  • Exemption 40 (2C Restricted Operations) Verification: Compliance for operating under restricted exemptions.
  • Safety Equipment and Structural Compliance Audits: Ensuring NSCV compliance.
  • Operational Documentation Review: Safety Management System (SMS) and maintenance record assessment.
  • Out-of-Water & In-Water Inspections: Structural, hull, and underwater appendage checks.
